Fencing Ages 7-11 - 424300

En Garde! Are you ready to discover the historic sport of fencing? Join our partners at the Salle de Lutins Fencing Club for a 4-week session of fencing. Get an introduction and training in a unique and fun Olympic sport! Students will receive instruction on form, technique and how to properly engage in a bout. Equipment can be rented for $20 during the class as well. If registering after the first class of a session, the class will NOT be prorated.

Tots, Trails & Tales - REC0000

Ages 2-5. Exploring the outdoors with your child is one of the best ways to help them form a lifelong bond with nature. Join us for story time, a tot-sized walk and a craft; all of which will open your eyes to the wonderful world of nature, and help sharpen your skills as your child's guide and teacher. This camp will focus on pollinators; bees, butterflies, and all the other creatures that help plans grow. Tuesday we will meet at the Pollinator Park at Blackwell Park for some hands on time with nature as well! Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Ages 3-4. You’ve heard of clown college, well this is clown preschool. Campers will spend the week studying the art of making people laugh! Camp will be goofy. It will be wacky. And by the end, who knows, you might even be sporting a red nose! Campers will work on crafts, play games and maybe even throw some pies! Get your juggling equipment ready, polish up your oversized shoes, and make sure your 40ft handkerchief is clean because it is time to CLOWN AROUND! On Friday of camp, we will have a hands-on clowning class for our campers!

Columbus Ranger Camp - REC0130

Ages 8-12. Columbus Parks and Recreation is in need of a new generation of Park Rangers. If you have a passion for nature, interest in our parks, and a desire to learn more about the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit our parks, consider signing up for Columbus Ranger Camp and becoming a park ranger in training. Throughout the week our campers will explore our different parks; from the Pollinator Park at Blackwell Park, to the riverfront area at Mill Race Park, our campers will grow in their knowledge of nature, preservation and the history of our local parks. Camp will conclude with a trip to Anderson Falls at the end of the week.

Camp Utopia - REC0150

Ages 8-13. A summer camp for those with a strong interest in wildlife and nature with an emphasis on conservation, science, wildlife and animal behavior. Hands on activities, nature scavenger hunt, games and explorations Illustrate all concepts using Utopia’s live educational ambassadors: Duncan the Bald Eagle, Obie the Barred Owl and Cloud the Coyote. Celebrate the week with a cookout and grand finale program for parents and caregivers on Friday.
Transportation will be provided to and from NexusPark (except for Friday, campers will be transported to Utopia and will be picked up by their adults after the final program and cookout). Daily snacks provided, bring your own lunch. This camp is supported by a grant from Amos Butler Audubon Society of Central Indiana.

Safe at Home - REC2150

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter is a 90 minute program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence.
Class is led by a certified instructor from the Council for Youth Development.

Super Sitters: Babysitter Safety - REC3145

Is your 6th – 8th grade child looking to be more independent at home and even start babysitting for siblings, friends or other families? We’ll explore the characteristics of a good babysitter and cover caring for infants and toddlers, basic first aid and CPR, what to do in an emergency, etc.

It’s the perfect family hobby! Get started making music together at our new Family Ukulele class taught by Allie Jean! You and your kids will learn how to participate in music-making at a level that is appropriate for each of you. We will learn how to hold, mute, and strum our ukes. Then we will learn about how to tune them so they sound good. We will learn what to do with our left hand to make even better sounds and what to do with our right hand to keep a steady beat. We will sing and accompany ourselves on familiar songs, new songs, and songs Allie Jean made up. Preview the songs by listening to her album SING AND PLAY ALL DAY, available on all streaming platforms.

This class REQUIRES an adult be signed up under a child's name (Adult & Child). If you need to register a second child to attend with you and your first child, register them under the Child Add-On section.
